The Deba is a traditional Japanese knife for breaking down and butchering fish, the VERY stout blade is used for cutting through fish ribs and spines. This is my spin on that, this knife is CHONKY almost a full 3/16 of an inch at the spine of the knife but still well balanced with a single chisel grind like the traditional model. Devilishly sharp and very fun to use this would be a great addition to anyone's knife collection in the kitchen. The blade is differentially heat treated and has a nice, started patina from acid etching.
